There are a lot of things I haven't done (or don't remember doing) with this blog that seem almost like required blogging activities. One of those things is selected Google searches. Make of them what you will:

On Blogging

Wow.

Wow, I have really been slacking lately, haven't I? And by lately, I mean "for months." Maybe I should get back into this blogging thing. I have been reading comic books, after all. And they're fun to write about, but the usual weekly thing got, well, tedious. Not the good "in-the-zone" tedious that I tend to experience at work. More the "this isn't fun or useful for anybody" tedious.

I think I will try to get back into the weekly swing of things. But I need to shake things up a bit. I think I know how to do that now and, with luck, it will be fun or useful for somebody!

So I guess I should go read Wednesday's haul, or what I can read meaningfully before Medium comes on. Yeah, you just read over 100 words of metapost. Sorry about that.

Y'know, come to think of it, I do have some content. It's fanfiction. Marvel Civil War fanfiction. (Yeah, I know. At least it's something.) So go read "Calling Home"! I mean, if you feel like it.

I'm also cheering for France and Sweden. Rooting for the USA is kind of futile at this point, but why not be a little patriotic, right?

No reviews for last week's comics. I just didn't have the motivation to write about my hodgepodge little pile. (How do people do this week after week?) Seriously, this is supposed to be a fun activity, and when reading the latest issue of Manhunter starts to feel like a chore, it's time to take a break. You know. Sit back, eat some popcorn, watch David Beckham score the game-winning goal (on a free kick) against Ecuador, watch him ralph all over the pitch, see if Wayne Rooney can play the full 90 (plus stoppage time) in 90 degree heat, watch Beckham ralph some more, watch them finally pull the guy off the field (in like the 85th minute) to get some water so he doesn't die before quarter-finals...

You get the idea. I took a football break. I am rested. So maybe if I get on a role with this week's pile, I'll slip in reviews of:

So it begins...

Lately, I've been teaching myself to plan, to budget, and to schedule. I've always sucked at those things. Always. Granted, I'm learning to do this on a small scale, first. A very small scale. Want to know how, exactly? Comic books. Seriously. I am a relatively recent convert, a newbie fangirl to the medium. That's not to say I never read comics before. I practically grew up on the daily strips (Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, Doonesbury and, to a lesser extent, Bloom County and Pogo.) but never ventured into the monthly superhero mags.

So, I've been keeping a weekly schedule, deciding what to pull (I have an actual pull list now, if you can imagine.), figuring out how much I'm spending a week, trying to keep it within certain limits, deciding what's worth reading... Well, okay, it sounds lame, but like I said. I suck at this. So this is a good habit to learn, and boy does it make my Wednesdays rewarding! It really does. I have something to look forward to every week. Never had that before, not really. (Depression-anxiety thing. You know how it is.)

Maybe if I can keep up a comic book pull schedule, I can keep up a blog. I have a few aborted attempts out there. Maybe this one will actually stick. Maybe next post (and there will be one, gods willing) will contain more than ramblings.
